Strange crossroad shrines and forgotten relics that break the descent's rhythm with sudden risk and unexpected reward. In update v1.6.0 (Encounters Wave 2), twelve new lore-grounded shrines arrive from the lore cosmology, doubling the roster from 12 to 24. With two encounter rooms per layer (four per run) and theme affinity weighting, every crossing offers run-altering choices — from kindling Void-Cinders for Ether Shards to forging protective wards upon the Last Iron Anvil.

Two Shrines Per Layer

Each layer now houses two non-adjacent encounter rooms (4 per run drawn without replacement), ensuring deep build diversity.

Theme Affinity (×2.0)

Shrines spawn at double weight in their ancestral themes (e.g., Scribe's Lectern in Sandstone, Brazier in Ashen Obsidian).

High-Stakes Pacts

Transmute spells with the Unravelling Spindle, absorb first hits with Anvil Ward, or reveal trap hitboxes with the Aethel Lamp.
